About
I am a PhD student in Statistics at Bocconi University. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and a Master's degree in Mathematics for Data Science, both from the University of Trento, where I graduated with highest honours (110/110 cum laude). The Master's programme was entirely taught in English.
My research interests include Bayesian statistics and Bayesian inference, Gaussian mixture models and mixture distributions, machine learning, and stochastic processes.
My experience includes statistical modelling, Bayesian inference, and machine learning across different application domains. During my Master's thesis, including a research period at Imperial College London, I worked on Bayesian models for multiplex serological data and infectious disease epidemiology.

Research experience
Research
-
Master’s thesis research
I focused on nonlinear extensions of a Bayesian Gaussian mixture framework for multiplex serology, combining mathematical modelling, Bayesian inference, simulation studies and computational implementation in R/Stan.
-
Imperial College London and xSTAR
I developed Gaussian mixture and Bayesian inference frameworks for multiplex serology of dengue, Zika and chikungunya, including computational workflows for antibody responses across multiple antigens.
-
Bachelor’s thesis
I studied mixture distributions and the expectation-maximization (EM) algorithm to detect counterfeiting in rectified concentrated musts, in the thesis ‘Distribuzioni mistura e algoritmo EM nella lotta alla contraffazione: il caso dei mosti concentrati rettificati.’
Selected academic projects
Projects
-
An Analysis of Travel Patterns in Barcelona Metro Using Tucker3 Decomposition
I analysed Barcelona metro travel patterns using Tucker3 tensor decomposition to uncover spatial clusters, temporal patterns and their interactions.
-
Cigarette Smoking Induces Small Airway Epithelial Epigenetic Changes with Corresponding Modulation of Gene Expression
I analysed gene-expression and DNA-methylation changes in the small-airway epithelium associated with cigarette smoking using machine-learning and multi-omic methods.
-
Loan Approval Prediction Project
I developed an end-to-end machine-learning workflow for loan approval data, including data cleaning, exploratory analysis, statistical testing, classification, cross-validated hyperparameter tuning, calibration diagnostics, feature-importance analysis and error analysis.
-
TD-Gammon: A Case Study in Temporal Difference Learning and Nonlinear Function Approximation
I developed and analysed a modern TD-Gammon implementation, modelling Backgammon as a sequential decision-making problem and training a neural-network agent through self-play with temporal-difference learning.
-
Landscapes of Crashes: A Topological Analysis of Financial Time Series
I analysed financial time series with Topological Data Analysis and developed a topological complexity indicator for comparison with the VIX.
